Five teams we can’t wait to try in FM20
Welcome back to the Dictate The Game Podca… oh wait, sorry… wrong intro. Anyway, are we all getting a little bored to with FM19 now? I know I am. It always gets this way this time of year. You kind of feel like you’ve done what you want to do in the current version of the game. Now, you’re looking new and exciting types of saves to try or new databases to sort out… You’re just passing the time until the fall rolls around and we get to see what the next version of Football Manager has in store for us. Five teams we can’t wait to try in FM20:
In other words, as we’re slogging through the summer heat, let’s look ahead! Here’s 5 teams I can’t wait to try in FM 2020:
INTER MILAN
I’m a big Conte fan. I love the Italian style of football and I love Catenaccio. I think we’re going to see the beginning of a turn-around at Inter now under Conte. He’s going to be able to do his thing at Inter and not be held down like at Chelsea. Above all, how will Mauro Icardi’s attitude pan out when he’s sitting on the bench? If they can’t sort a transfer for him it looks like he’s stuck in the reserves under Conte.
Possible formations: 3-4-3, 3-1-4-2, 3-5-2
MANCHESTER UNITED
Ole at the wheel… or is he? One of the most influential managers of the last 20 years found out that even he wasn’t. After that, Jose Mourinho found himself disenchanted and was ultimately shown the door. Manchester has seen movement this year in the transfer window and there seems to be more to come. However, Real Madrid is banging the door down for Pogba and Lukaku seems all but gone. The interesting bits are going to be how this new infusion of talent in James, Wan-Bassaka, and (maybe) the likes of Dybala and Maguire fit in.
Possible Formations: 4-1-4-1, 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2 Diamond
EVERTON
This may come as a surprise to some, but I am really looking forward to giving Everton a spin on FM20. Gueye was a huge loss because I think people underestimate how good he really is. Gueye was a poor man’s Kante to me that just turned into a rich team’s Kante a PSG but Everton are making moves. Similarly, I feel like Moise Kean is going to be a big European striker in the coming year and the addition of Fabian Delph (who is VASTLY underrated) really bolsters a team looking for real veteran leadership.
Possible Formations: 4-1-4-1, 4-5-1, 4-2-3-1
REAL MADRID
One word… Zidane. I think this is a good time to go to youtube and check out the kind of player this man was. This is a man who has gone back to Real very much under the understanding that he is in change. He will get what he wants. Real have made the additions of Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, and Fernand Mendy. Similarly, his willingness to absolutely sit Gareth Bale with the amount of money Real is paying him. He will hear nothing about it from the Madrid upper management. I also feel that Madrid will land Paul Pogba this transfer window. Pogba will work under Zizou unlike Mourinho and Ole. This is going to be a fun team to play!
Possible Formations: 4-1-4-1, 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2 Diamond
CHELSEA
Want a challenge? Take over a team with a pending transfer window ban who’s biggest claim in the off season is American Christian Pulisic. Do I think Pulisic will make a difference? Sure. Regardless, it’s going to be some major managerial brilliance on your side as a player to use your tactics to “fill the gaps” in the Chelsea line up. Do that have youth? Yes. Do they have potential? In other words, can you weather the storm and avoid the sack in time for you to bring in reinforcements?
Possible Formations: 4-4-1-1, 4-1-4-1, 4-2-3-1
