Football Manager 2019 Guides | Understanding the Editor

The Football Manager Editor is a very powerful tool that allows the community to really express their creativity and showcase the huge potential of the Football Manager database. For those unaware the editor is a free tool created by Sports Interactive that allows players to see the in-game stats and then edit and create players, teams and competitions. A few of the following points will be covered in this guide:

  • How do I use it?
  • What can I do with it?
  • Things for you to try in the editor.
  • How to then start saves with the changes you’ve made.

Project Aswijan | Introduction

PA Template.png

Aswijan. A fictional footballing nation created by the super talented @wtforkgaming. Situated off the coast of Portugal, Asiwjan has a whole backstory which is explained in the introduction video which it’s definitely worth checking out ahead of the start of this series, as it explains some of the detail that I’ll be trying to wrap my head round. For the database, a number of content creators were given the chance to ‘sponsor’ a team, which basically means that our logos appear on kits etc; I’ll be playing with the club I sponsor, which is Al Fari FC.

Dynamo Project FM19 – Guide to The Regista – Orchestrating the Play

For a while now, I was planning to write about the new tactic that I have been working on in order to get the best out of my amazing regen, the Croatian diamond in my last golden generation intake (as seen in my previous article). As I started to write I realized that before the full tactics revelation, I need set a bit of context for the specialized role I intend to build the tactic around; the Regista. There are many misconceptions out there about this role. In Football Manager 2019 the challenge in using a regista is that unlike other roles, it really requires you to build the tactic around him. You need to start with this very specialized role and then choose the other roles around very carefully in order to best complement him. So without further ado, who exactly is the Regista?

Serie B continues: Can US Triestina avoid the drop?

(The legendary Triestina player Nereo Rocco, after whom the stadium is named)

In my previous post I outlined the progress of the first thirteen games of the Serie B season, in which my objective was to avoid relegation.

We  made a very positive start, notwithstanding a horrible start to the season; in our opening game we were 4-0 down within 16 minutes against Bologna! We recovered to lead the table by 5 points. Continue reading

Starting a New Save | Football Manager Guide

If you’re anything like me, you’ll get to a point some time when you’re thinking about starting a new save. Recently, I was missing English football, having started my first save in Italy, and wanted to start a save in the Championship. While this is a guide for starting fresh, there are a lot of similarities to starting at a new club, so this post will be useful to those players also.

Starting out well at a new club.

I decided to start out at Brentford, I’ll be using them as my example. Whether you’re simply getting bored of your first save or things didn’t go the way you wanted and you’re looking to start out fresh, here is my guide to starting a new save. I’ve chosen five key areas to focus on.

Dynamo Project FM19 – The Golden Generation | Youth Development

Every year, around January when the arrival of the Winter Update is imminent, I start asking myself the same question, and this year is no different; who should I manage on football manager 2019? Now that the game is fully-updated what long-term definite save do I do? Do I start a Lower League Management saga, or a campaign to revive a Sleeping Giant? Do I manage in top 5 Leagues with their guaranteed riches, or in one of the more obscure ones and try to build them up to greater glory? All these are the questions that go through my mind in the month of January.

Sometimes restarting multiple times with different clubs, it might take weeks before settling on a save. This year the process has been somewhat easier as I finally realised what I enjoy the most in all my saves; to develop players from youth academy to the heights of continental football. Seeing these youngsters progress, sometimes rising up the leagues with the club, gives me the ultimate feeling of reward. This article is not only an informal guide to my philosophy of youth development but also a guide to those with less time or patience to start their own golden generation and rather jump into a club already possessing one at the start of the season.
