Mason Bradshaw | Livin’ the Dream | #4

Livin’ the Dream is the third and final installment following the journey of Mason Bradshaw’s football manager career. His most recent role was with Braintree Town FC, in the Vanarama South, where he managed to keep them up. He’s now down under managing Sydney FC, living on the harbour with his wife Sophie, and young daughter, April.

In this article, we will see Mason play three games. We will also hear from him about a big announcement regarding him and his wife, Sophie. Dan Smith, a local reporter, dishes out a transfer rumour about a potential signing.

League Match v Western Sydney Wanderers

Pre Match

Sydney FC, the home team, were 4-1 favourites to win the match. Adam Le-Fondre having the odds of 8-2 to score first.

The match was not expected to be a sell out but the 48,000 capacity stadium was expected to be around 80% full.

Former England international, Emile Heskey, said “I think Bradshaw’s men will take this match, if they show up with the right attitude and desire”

However, former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, working for BEIN sports, disagreed, saying “I don’t think Bradshaw have them in the right shape either offensive or defensive. Not to mention the squad depth is woeful.”

The Match

It was a mild October evening when the Wanderers came to town. The Sydney Cricket Ground was the venue and Sydney FC got the game underway at 7:45pm.

The first ten minutes would shape the match, and as it turned out, it would be dire. The only goal of the game coming for the visitors in the 9th minute. Patrick Zielger scored the lone goal of the game to take the points back for the Sydney rivals.

Post Match

After a disappointing derby loss, Mason spoke to BBC Sport saying, “That was an unacceptable performance. To only have one shot on target the whole game is just not acceptable. Maybe its time to freshen things up…”

Jose Mourinho added, “there’s a real lack of squad depth at this club, they need reinforcements and quick.”

MASON’S LIFE UPDATE

It’s been a while since I updated my blog, my friends. Life has changed a little since I last wrote. Firstly I am now married to Sophie, and we have a daughter called April.

Secondly I am no longer living in London. I have moved down under and I am living on the Sydney harbour. Simply the best place in the entire world. Last but certainly not least, I am now the manager of Sydney FC.

The place I call home….

How did this all happen, I hear you ask? Let me fill you in….

I had just left Braintree after a five month spell, having decided not to renew my contract mainly due to living in London at the time and the commute was not worthwhile and I wanted to spend more time with my family. In the mean time I took a 9-5 job working at the local Sainsburys.

Then on the 24th June 2018, I got a call. I looked at the number and saw it was an Australian number, and I thought “who’s calling me from there?!?” I spoke to the chairman who flat out offered me talks to become the new Sydney FC boss.

We were actually on holiday at Hopton Holiday Village at the time with my wife and daughter.

I returned home to sort out my visa and pick up the two main ladies in my life, and then it began, the Bradshaws down under…

Then a few days ago, the best news ever happened…. me and Sophie are having another baby!

So until next time, farewell and god bless

IS DAX THE MAN?

By Dan Smith

Rumours are swirling around Sydney that Sydney FC could sign Chicago Fire captain, Dax McCarty on a three year.

McCarty, a MLS veteran, has played for Chicago since January 2016, moving from New York Red Bulls after a five year spell in New York, including a two year spell as the club captain.

Bradshaw is known to be a long time admirer of the American international, having watched him as a fan of the Red Bulls, Mason even tweeted about the vet on Twitter in 2015
