My FM18 Journey Part 2

So after the last post, we’ve finish pre-season and started the season. The rest of pre-season was fairly straight forward and I wanted to crack on and get into some real fixtures. Here are the remaining results and the goalscorers in all the games:

Pre-Season

Regarding transfer activity there was little; we managed to bring in a new striker Hassan, and also Henrik Bjørdal and Ben Hall went to Aberdeen and Hamilton respectively on loan.

Finally it was time for me to start my full managerial career, against a similarly newly promoted Huddersfield. This was a crucial match as this will realistically be a relegation battle, I have no doubts that we will struggle this year but I’m confident in keeping us up this season.

Unfortunately we had a poor start to the match and went in at half time 2-0 down. A few early substitutions didn’t help and we conceded another! Late on Tomer Hemed managed to grab a brace but it was too little, too late for my first match and unfortunately I lost my first competitive match as Brighton manager. I was disappointed but not beaten, I still had 37 more games to prove my worth.

My next match was the first at home, and it was a very strange match! We offered very little in terms of attack and played mainly on the counter. However in the dying moments of the match Anthony Knockaert scored what I thought was the winner! However Sam Bryam equalised a minute later and the match finished 1-1. I was gutted we couldn’t hold on but in reflection I think we took a good point from that match.

Our next (and final for the post) was a Carabao Cup 2nd round match against Bristol Rovers. I decided to rotate a lot this time and played a slightly different 4-5-1 and it worked a charm. Hassan on his debut scored a brace and Knockaert continued his great start with 2 goals in 3 games. Hassan was brought in originally as a rotation option due to the large fixture congestion (especially around Christmas) but if he can impress in less important matches then I’ll have no problems playing him in crucial matches.

Hopefully I’ll have a played quite a few more matches by my next post! Is there anything you’d like changed about the structure of these posts? Hoping to really play this save this year and accomplish some real achievements. Thanks for reading!
